Dispelling The Myth About 501(c)3 Registration: Don't Get Pressured Into Becoming A Tax-Exempt N
This week during our next Elevate Your Image workshop we will be going live to dispel the belief that you have to be a tax-exempt non-profit 501(c)3 to be a charity. You don't. After much deliberation and research with local Small Business advisers, consultants who consult nationally like our friend and adviser, Isaac McCoy, (thanks) who was appointed by President Obama as the Senior Advisor for Business Development at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), we've successfully dispelled this myth and are ready to teach others how they can start structuring themselves in a way that solicits support for their philanthropic efforts without the tax-exempt status.
This by no means is to under-cut the importance of being a registered non-profit if you want government funding or to solicit tax-exempt donations, but I think it's time our network knew the difference, don't you? Our mission is however education and awareness.
Join us in-person this Thursday at The Petersburg Public Library at 10 A.M. sharp or in our FaceBook Group for the Live -- to participate in the discussion during our next Elevate Your Image workshop and get your questions answered!
In the meantime check our our new FAQ's page dispelling a few Myth's of our own.
